George Foreman's daughter, Freeda Foreman, died of an apparent suicide and based on the evidence surrounding her demise, it appears she hanged herself. I am saddened to learn of the death of Freeda Forman. I have always respected her father George. I remember
watching him
compete in the 1968 Olympics hosted in Mexico City, Mexico.
It was a turbulent time in American Politics. I can understand the frustration of many of the American black atheletes. I didn't appreciate the black power salute
they did on the podium, and neither did a great many people. To be honest, I really don't know if relations between black and white Americans has gotten better in all these years.
I think it took as much courage for George Forman to raise the Amercian flag in his victory bow in the ring after he won the gold metal as it did for the relay team to raise their gloved fists. With all his accomplishments in his boxing career and in business, George Forman remained a humble man. This is what life is about.
I pray that Freeda Forman finds the peace in death she was unable to find in life.
