Watching Yojimbo (1951)
The similarities to A Fistful of Dollars (1964) can't be a coincidence. Don't get me wrong. I think this is one of Eastwood's best movies, but the film was essentially an unofficial and unlicensed remake of Akira Kurosawa's 1961 film. I never thought of Eastwood's characters as being samurai in nature, but when you boil them down, they certainly fit large parts of the mold.

Let me be like a switchblade to a hater's rib cage.
-- Eminem

I never have been a fan of rap, but Eminem can spin good prose. He is certainly a cut above the ghetto gibberish I am used to hearing.
Jay-Z is also in a class of his own.

Things never really change. The shit just gets deeper. I have realized that at my current position, I have to work 40 hours a week the entire month in order to stay afloat. If I come up short, I am looking at concrete square in my face as I land head first into the gutter. It is time to make a commitment to myself and stake a claim. I haven't been able to do so and this is a serious flaw I am aware of. I haven't quit moving forward but I need to do a better job of it. I am also aware that time is not on my side. It never has been.

Watching Seven Samurai (1954)
One of the most thrilling movie epics of all time. Watch on Hulu. http://bit.ly/1696lez

"Good thing I wasn't born a peasant.
Better to be born a dog. Goddamn it.
Go ahead - hang yourself and die!
You're better off dead!"

They don't write great script like this anymore. The boys and girls in Holywood need to get back to the basics of story telling. All the special effects nonsense has dulled their creativity.

Federal Judge Rules National Security Letters (NSL) Are Unconstitutional
Saturday, March 16, 2013 :: Staff infoZine
Court Finds NSL Statutes Violate First Amendment and Separation of Powers

A federal district court judge in San Francisco has ruled that National Security Letter (NSL) provisions in federal law violate the Constitution. The decision came in a lawsuit challenging a NSL on behalf of an unnamed telecommunications company represented by the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF).

The controversial NSL provisions EFF challenged on behalf of the unnamed client allow the FBI to issue administrative letters -- on its own authority and without court approval -- to telecommunications companies demanding information about their customers. The controversial provisions also permit the FBI to permanently gag service providers from revealing anything about the NSLs, including the fact that a demand was made, which prevents providers from notifying either their customers or the public. The limited judicial review provisions essentially write the courts out of the process.

"The First Amendment prevents the government from silencing people and stopping them from criticizing its use of executive surveillance power," said EFF Legal Director Cindy Cohn. "The NSL statute has long been a concern of many Americans, and this small step should help restore balance between liberty and security."

This is good news. As long as people are speaking out against what they percieve to be oppressions, then the courts have to at least pay attention to the complaints. A favorable ruling here and there will keep government goons from stomping on the US Constitution; what's left of it. Once people stop raising their voices, roll over and play dead, then you can bet that someone, somwhere is going to get a missle launched from a predator drone shoved right up their ass. It is only a matter of time before the tech surveilence vehicles in the movie Blade Runner become reality. The genie is out of the bottle and we can't put it back in. We can fight for our civil rights to the bitter end and it is our responsibility as human beings to do so.

Ron Jeremy is out of the hospital and feeling better than ever. His doctor has even cleared him for sex.
"They said to me at the clinic, that if you can walk up two flights of stairs you're able to have sex,
so I walked up two flights of stairs and three additional stairs".

Ron also turned 60 on March 12, 2013. Life is good!

I am in the throws of fighting the urge to hate morons and weaker individuals. I know this is a waste of time. Where does it end? They are like cockroaches living in the filth of their own sick minds. A better person realizes you can not hate someone who's mind is sick but it is human nature to despise those who lash out in ignorance against you for no reason other than those they conjure.

I have to agree with many of the points Ted is making. Not ONE single banking/investment higher up was prosecuted for the destruction of the American economy, and not a single individual is going to be held accountable for the rape and destruction of middle class wealth in this country.

The idea of killing citizens based on so called "reliable information" from the sky with drones is insane. It goes against everything the Constitution stood for. I use the past tense here because the Constitution is no longer in force. Laws don't add up to shit if they aren't enforced and the civil rights are not being enforced. It has been a slow and steady dismantling and for all practical purposes, it's a done deal.

Having said this, I have to keep looking forward because that is all there is left. I have some life left and I can still experience some joy before it is all over.

I was browsing this site I had stumbled on before. I don't know who these people are that set up this site. Do we ever really? There are 1000's of IT training video available to download by such names as TrainSignal, CBT Nuggets, etc. All the big players. These training videos are not cheap. Makes you wonder how they got a hold of them and why they are giving them away. The sites you go to download them are standard. There isn't any peer-to-peer silliness going on. There are the customary "pop ups" that want you to buy their product or service. The sites offer a premium membership so you get a better download speed and you have no time restrictions on when you can download more product. It has always been my understanding that if some shmuck uploads copyrighted material onto the Internet on a site he is hosting, they are on the hook for any illegal repercusions, if any. I have come to believe this may not be the case. If it isn't, then if you find anything freely available to download surfing the Net, think twice. I think a particular situation as this is clearly entrapment, but I could be wrong.

I was browsing as I mentioned. I didn't even download anything. I clicked on a link that took me to a site I had been on before. I don't know if the link I clicked on to look at this book I was interested in took me to the legitimate site or if it was a cloned one. It doesn't take much effort to clone some of these file storage websites.

Like I said, I didn't even download this book when all of a sudden, my screen is showing a full page layout consisting of a notification from Homeland Security that I had violated the law and my computer was locked. It was! No mention of what law it was I had violated. They even had my IP address, my computername, and my username on the page. I know for a fact that Homeland Security is not locking people's computers. On the page were instructions of how I could get my computer unlocked. There were numerous advertising icons on where I had to go and buy a gift card for $300 ranging from Walgreens to Walmart. There was a field to enter the number and a button to click that said OK. There was also a warning that if I didn't pay up within 48 hours, government goons were going to break my front door open, seize my computer and haul my ass to prison. Clearly, this was a case of "ransomware". A group of Russian hackers either set up this site or they are trolling it looking for victims to extort money from.

I made an effort to set my computer back to an earlier restore point. It didn't work. I have taken precautionary measures to backup all my important programs along with registration keys. I have backed up passwords and other personal files. All of this backed up material is on external hard drives connected to my computer via USB ports. It wasn't a hardship for me to do what I had to do. I reset my computer to it's original factory settings. What that means is wiping your hard drive clean and starting over. I had upgraded to Windows 7 from Vista. When it was all said and done, my machine was once again running Vista loaded with all the HP shit that came with it. I own a HP Pavilion machine. It has good power. That is why I bought it and the price was right. I didn't care for the HP shit on it. Once I got to this point, I re-installed my Windows 7 update. I was back in the ballpark. All that was left was to re-install all the programs I was using before. It took a few hours, but I got it all done. In fact, the old girl is as good as new, even better. By wiping the hard drive clean, I got rid of a lot of crap I had on it that I wasn't using anyway. It is streamlined now with only programs and things I am really using. Any residual spyware or malware tucked away on the hard drive that wasn't a serious threat is gone also. Whiping the drive clean isn't a bad thing.

Don't get me wrong. This wasn't a stroll down cherry lane. It was a pain in the ass. These fucking Russians taught me a valuable lesson. Stay out of the streaming porn video sites. They are in there and they are getting into your machines. Stay out of the file storage sites that aren't legitimate. There are reasons people have accounts in these sites and they serve a purpose, but I think organised crime is using them to further their own nefarious ends. That isn't right but that is what is happening. I'd stick to Drop Box and Sky Drive if you need to access files anywhere from any device. If you need to back up information you don't have to use online file storage. Buy yourself an external storage device. Bottom line is this. The Internet is diseased. Wear a condon when you surf. Be smart.

White House press secretary Jay Carney on Monday denounced Dennis Rodman’s trip to North Korea, calling the former NBA player’s appearance a publicity stunt by the Hermit Kingdom’s oppressive regime.

"Instead of spending money on celebrity sporting events to entertain the elites of that country, the North Korean regime should focus on the well-being of its own people, who have been starved, imprisoned and denied their human rights," Carney said.

I alway though that Dennis Rodman was something of an odd ball. People would tell me they thought it was all just as act. I didn't think so then and reading this story today reinforces the idea. They say birds of a feather flock together. I can see why the White House would find Rodman's behavior unsavory and that he really shouldn't be doing business with Kim Jong Eun. I wonder if the White House told Coca Cola the same thing?

I am still plugging along with my pursuit of learning the new web technologies of HTML5, JavaScript, and CSS3. I have done nothing with CSS3 as of yet. I am looking at HTML5. I have been focusing on JavaScript for the most part. This week-end, I took a hard look at Powershell again. I do have a grasp on this and it would be a crime not to pursue a degree of mastery with it. I also found some great materials on PHP and even set up a "testing environment" on my localhost. I also set up a nice testing environment using Netbeans IDE 7.3 to test JavaScript. It is just a matter of sitting down and digesting this knowledge. It truly is a lifelong project.

My gut is getting out of hand; for my personal taste anyway. I keep telling myself to get off my dead ass and get training. There is no exscuse. I am slowing down and this is a sign to crank the fire up several notches.

Of all the crazy things I have seen and heard, this story about the Florida man getting swallowed by the sink hole grabs you right by the short hairs.

ABC News: March 3, 2013

"The sinkhole, which authorities estimated now measures 30 feet across and up to 100 feet deep, will become the final resting place for 37-year-old Jeff Bush, who was in his bedroom Thursday night when the earth opened up and trapped him underneath his home".

There you are one moment fast asleep, safe and warm in your bed. The next moment you are dancing with the Grim Reaper. When the times comes to cash in your chips, there is no reprieve. When the marker is due, you pay. Until then, all you can do is keep fighting and smell the roses while they are in bloom.
