My tablet arrived a few weeks ago, and I have got it figured out. I really can't maintain this blog using it. It does have Wi-Fi so it is nice to check my email and read news stories. I can download .pdf files and .mp3 podcasts.
These tablets are made for social media. I got all my stuff out of Wisconsin and loaded into my room here in Dubuque. The old computer is working as well as it ever did. I can access my library of books, audio files, and video files. I can read all my computer geek books and work with code in the terminal or using Geany -- a text editor using the GTK2 toolkit with basic features of an integrated development environment. I can work with awk, sed, grep, python, perl, C, and scheme. I have a computer course laid out for 2015. The coming year looks promising.
2014 was a year to remember. I went from the lowest of lows to a position where I can experience a modicum of prosperity. That is all I ask for. I may have to stop here at the Dubuque Central library to use a computer to update this blog, but that is ok. The plan is to stay right where I am living at the Canfield Hotel for all of 2015. I can save $15,000 this year. That is small potatoes but it is a fortune to me. It isn't going to be easy, but the effort required will pay dividends in the future. I will enjoy myself also in the meantime. All work and no play ...
To all my loyal readers over the years, thank you for stopping by and seeing what I have here. This blog isn't the blog of old, but that is ok too. I have archived a great many pages over the years and I see them popping up on the web in the strangest places. I am proud to think I have contributed to what is now referred to as the "semantic web". Have a Great and Prosperous New Year!
Switched my Wisconsin driver's license today to Iowa. I am now officially an Iowa resident living in Dubuque. It tool a month longer than it should have, but the DMV in any state can be a pain to deal with. All I can say is "all is well that ends well". I am glad everything has fallen into place and all I have left to do is live well and prosper.
